SMSTS DAY RELEASE
SMSTS Day release is a five-day course planned for project managers, site managers, entrepreneurs and clients. The learning context includes case studies, group discussions and presentations, with the CITB test at the end of the course. The SMSTS certification has a validation of five years. After obtaining this certificate, the interested candidates can take the SMSTS Refresher course. The SMSTS course covers significant regulations and factors that influence safe working in the civil engineering and construction industries. With the information and skills you gain, you will guard your worker’s site hazards and accidents through efficient lead.
Health and Safety
Health and safety are crucial aspects of this course. It includes the assessment of probabilities of accidents by facts and figures and preventing them. The manager's role and knowledge of leadership styles, types of work, consequences of inefficiency management of health and safety. The regulations are standardised by the legal system of the UK namely The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Implementing Health & Safety Legislation, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974( HASWA).
Rules and Regulations
Law has set rules and regulations for the management of work at construction sites like Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and COSHH Regulations; Noise at Work Regulations, and Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005. Assessment of the health hazards especially Asbestos-related diseases, Waste and environmental management, dealing with construction waste, and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Risk at Work
The risk assessment is a matter of utmost importance in the construction industry. The Analysis of heights hazards, scaffolding type, scaffold inspection and safety provisions associated with ladders, harnesses and fall arrest. Understanding The Construction ( Design and Management) regulations 2015 enlists the construction phase, key regulations changes, and information on duty holders.
Ensuring General Safety
The lifting operations are to be understood in this course. The other activities like underground and overhead services, electricity at work, confined spaces, fire prevention and control, excavations, drugs restriction and mental awareness.
