The objective of our CPCS A24 Motorised scraper training is to ensure you or your employee has the skills, knowledge, and understanding regarding Motorised Scrapers safely and efficiently.

Course Description

The course and assessment will include:

  • Preparation of the machine for work.
  • Full pre-start and checks.
  • Appropriate use of PPE.
  • Proper entry/exit of the machine.
  • Travel and maneuver over different ground conditions, in confined spaces, in forward and reverse directions, loaded and unloaded.
  • Appropriate gear engagement and travel speeds are given at ground conditions.
  • Transmission, brakes, and steering are to be used correctly.
  • Full observation before and during travel.
  • Contact avoided with obstructions during maneuvering.
  • Correct use of all controls.
  • Approach, position, and receive loads.
  • Loading area to be approached at the appropriate speed.
  • Proper position confirmed with pusher operator (where applicable).
  • Bowl apron and tailgate set properly for loading material.
  • The front engine is only used when loading (twin-engine machines).
  • Avoid undue wheel spin while loading.
  • Using short loading cycles.
  • Machine loaded to capacity.
  • Excavated to the required tolerance.
  • Discharge load in the fill area.
  • Approached discharge area at the appropriate speed.
  • Discharge area analysis for hazards.
  • Cushion hitch deactivated (if fitted).
  • Bowl lowered for discharging height.
  • Loads ejected in the correct sequence and according to the required thickness.
  • Loads are ejected in continuous layers.
  • Bowl apron tailgate reset for travel back to cut area.
  • Cushion hitch activated (if fitted).
  • Putting the machine out of service – shut down and secure procedures.

How is the Course assessed?

The completed Motorised scraper training ends with a theoretical and practical test.

What Certification will I receive?

Our Motorised scraper training is CPCS accredited. After successful completion of the course, trainees would be given a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

Types of Cards

Trained Operator Card (RED)

The CPCS Red Card, also known as the Trained Operator Card, is a card provided by the CPCS for those that are at the initial stage of their career in plant operation. This card verifies the core skills and knowledge to work in their chosen field (under supervision) while they complete the applicable SVQ or NVQ or other relevant vocational qualifications.

Once you've received your Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, it will last for 2 years. During these 2 years, you must work towards and achieve your NVQ in Plant Operations to upgrade to a Blue CPCS Competence Card.

Competent Operator Card (BLUE)

A Competent Operator Card (COC) is a standardized document issued by the UK's Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) that allows individuals to become authorized construction site supervisors. It confirms that the holder has demonstrated a level of health and safety awareness through a competency based-test, underpinning knowledge previously through a CPCS theory test, operating ability previously through a CPCS practical test, and operating competence on the type of plant (evidenced by an SVQ or NVQ or employer confirmation of competence).
